Re: Canadian Closed Championships 2008- results.

The enthusiasm of the dancers over Canadian Closed Amateur Championships is overwhelming:

1. the results were posted correctly for the Finals, but for the Semifinal, Quarter Final, etc; the results are reported in an alphabetical order ....very difficult for dancesportinfo.net to figure and interpret into points the actual final results

2 Why were only 7 adjudicators used (& in comparison with the provincial championship where 9 judges were used ) ?

3. Why were same 2 adjudicators used as in the previous year Is this not against Rules ?

If you run a national championship with a skeleton staff; and if someone gets sick or cannot attend the entire Championship be compromised

9 judges should be a minimum for a well run National Championship, if for no other reason but to avoid reading about conspiracy theories.

4.Should adjudicators be allowed to judge their own (long time ) students/pupils - same people who support their life-style standard?

If so should these results not be carefully scrutinized and approved by a completely impartial person ?

5.Has (undeniable )the cooperation/collaboration of three present CDF executives (the heart and the soul of CDF)impacted fairness and judging partiality ?

Which provinces do you think would be the beneficiaries ?

Are there no other views, or is there a fear of expressing them ?

Is it that everyone is happy, or is an apathy which prevents you from reflecting on this wonderful event ?

Very interesting questions Never Say Never. The answers are surely obvious?

But did you and CADA members not think of that this what you are going to get with the CADA and CDF aliance?

You are surely in for more of the same in the future. This is part of what those CDF professionals were fighting to maintain. Their position within the CADA organisation, sad is it not ?

And you all suported it. So you have got what you asked for. Too late now.

Everything you have written is exactly how I feel. What is most important to competitors is the judging. That makes it a good competition or a poor one. In this regard our highest Canadian Championship failed completely. We still have the same group of judges. Some of the judges adjudicated the qualifying events and then the final championships. So we had to have their opinion twice. And then some judged last year and again this year! Not only not fair but against the rules. If it is run against the rules aren't the results not valid?

Why was their only 7 judges? There are a lot of qualified judges available. Was it to save money? Didn't they make money at Halifax? Where does the money go? It certainly wasn't used to provide a proper judging panel. Disappointed.

LUV2dance,

You are right on almost all points. But there is 1 point that is not agreed upon. "There are a lot of qualified judges available" This is possible ? maybe. But there are also lots of newly lowly qualified adjudicators that would not be able to adjudicate any WDC/CDDSC event, as they are not nearly qualified enough.
