Re: EADA relaunch website

Firstly may I congratulate EADA's new webmaster (Shen? - that's rather close to Shan ;-)) on the excellent job he (she?) has done in modernising the EADA web site.
For those who don't know, I was EADA's webmaster (and was asked by Piet Rullens to be the IDSF deputy webmaster just before I resigned due to irreconcilable differences with EADA's then Chairman and subsequently self-appointed President) when the web site was a fully dynamic web site as it is now but sadly wasn't for quite some time during the 'reign' of the previous (appointed by the President to his 'executive committee' with full voting rights) webmaster.
As a firm advocate of open source software (and a PHP as well as ASP/ASP.NET developer) I'm particularly pleased to see that the new web site is managed using the Drupal CMS. I'm also particularly pleased to see that my 'legacy' to EADA still 'lives on' in the form of the EADA chart pages which are fully dynamically driven (using ASP) from a backend MS SQL Server database. It always satisfying for a web developer to see that code he wrote more than 7 years ago now is still reliably doing the job it was intended to do (I'm sure Zbysek will agree!!).
I'd like to second (what my fellow long suffering dancesport parent) Elaine has written above, namely that sadly most EADA members are apathethic (and probably quite rightly so) about international dancesport politics. It's also very sad to see that little has changed in regard to the plight of English dancesport competitors.
The primary reason why this is so, is IMO because of the continued existence of the poor excuse for a (self appointed) EADA President, namely David Corfield. He is and will always sadly be no match (in terms of dedication and hard work in the interests of the membership) for EADA's former Chairman Rita Thomas who always understood that the role of the EADA Chairman was to be the 'first among equals' as all chairmen should be and not to be the leader of a (self appointed by the President) 'executive committee'.
May I also give my complete support and sympathies to Rachelle (Shell) as the next person who is attempting to modernise EADA and to make it more democratic i.e. to attempt push that rather large stone up that very steep hill only to see it role back down to the bottom again when it looks like you may be getting close to the top of the hill. I wish you the best of luck Rachelle as you will need it!
