@Pink Unicorn,   your story upsets me.

it appears is the same everywhere,  the success , or a demise of  dancers   depends on the decision of judges.

Unfortunately, and your   story is a testimony that dancesport bull#@!   has permeated dancesport .  The couple in your story has obviously run into one or more judges whose "bull#@!  influences their (probably better ) judgement, resulting in lower total recalls and inability to reach the ( apparently )  deserved   higher placement.

Please don't be upset because we are not! We have been around for a long time now to know how things work.

The difference between us and newcomers is that we know better and just enjoy to see our kids dancing and have great support from our teachers. Results are another story! If you can not accept it then do something else.

Pink Unicorn, what you say is relative to so many junior/juvenile/youth/amateur dancers all over the UK. It seems that even if the top couple dance slightly worse than usual whilst others exel the results do not alter. Most of the time the winners do deserve their place.. but other placings i agree in the junior/youth section particularly are questionable.

Your aproach to this unfortunate state of dancesport is very admirable and I do hope that other couples facing the same battle do as you do and continue dancing because you love it not because you are desperate to reach finals.

Can i also add that Geraint & Clara are absolutely brilliant and my son Thomas and I have been shocked many a time when the did not make a final as they are always a couple i can place as easy finalists.

Good luck to them with their international competitions - I agree that in these comps you are definately judged more fairly as if they dont know who you are - that can not be the basis on which you are judged.

Regards, Stuart.

Says it all really doesn't it.

Congratulations to them both, althought their place in the final does not come as a surprise to me and i'm sure to many others.
